About Me

“Exceptional dependability is the backbone of my business.”

I’m Jackie Veling, and I’m a freelance writer based in Dallas, Texas. I divide my time between writing for agencies, companies and brands and writing for publications.

I’ve worked in local media, at a national nonprofit and at a global technology company, and each experience taught me the same lesson: You can never overvalue the basics, which is why I turn in 1) clean copy 2) on time 3) with a good attitude.

Exceptional dependability is the backbone of my business.

I am also trained as a journalist. I received my degree from Indiana University, where I graduated in the top 10% of my class, was awarded numerous merit-based scholarships, interned in London, reported on the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Kenya and won an award from the Society of Professional Journalists for this magazine piece—all a fancy way of saying I enjoy a good story and know how to tell one!

My work covers a wide range of topics including health and wellness, self-development, profiles and human-interest pieces, personal essays and general lifestyle content. So far, the no-niche world is a thrill! View my portfolio page for more.

If you are interested in the topic of freelancing or just want to keep up with my work (**waves solely to family members**), check out my blog where I discuss the in’s and out’s of non-9-5 life.

If you think I would be a good fit for your content needs, please reach out. I would love to work together.
